In fact, Mr. Mead is a model for us all. It is astonishing what Leonard has come to see in all this time of walking. It may very well be that where Leonard used to write to see, he now walks to see. Not all is hopeless as Mead walks. Even when the humane is absent, Leonard is still a human who is walking and who is seeing. On one particular evening, he is accosted by police. In other words, there was no longer a need for police except for the extreme oddities such as Leonard Mead because with the decline of literacy, civility, and conversation, the masses were no longer good or bad citizens.

I could imagine how scared Leonard would have been, I would have not known what to do in this position, because I would just be frozen with amazement when the car comes at me. Also when he is in the cop car driving to the Psychiatric center, and they pass by his house with all the lights, the cop does not care at all.
It was like his house versus darkness and the tomblike houses of the city. Ray Bradbury uses some great lines in the story that make some great imagery, and make you feel like your really in the situation at hand. This is one of my favorite lines in the story, because it is interesting and creepy also. He refers to the houses as tombs, and the dead sit there and just stare at the television. When Mr. Police cars do not talk, but Ray Bradbury wanted them to in this story. Personification really excites the reader, and makes the story much more interesting, because it is not actually real. He also uses similes and metaphors to get the reader more into the story, and also make the story seem like it pops out to the reader. He uses figurative language perfectly.
