I think taking away a kids childhood to force them into adulthood will cause a children to develop stress related health problems such as nervousness, hyperactivity, eating and sleeping disorders, and headaches and stomach problems. I understand this better than anyone else over years I have struggled with terrible anxiety issues, eating and sleeping disorders, and stomach problems. These health problems have taken a toll on my life and the way I live. It has made me struggle in life and it has made me afraid of living sometimes. When you are faced with struggles that an adult would have when you are not ready for them, they tend to torment you and rob you of proper sleep and slowly, before you know it, depression seeps in. And I personally believe that happened to Ender — he reaches a point where he no longer knew the difference between reality and dreaming, as he passed through the days doing what was asked of him and slowly he was dying inside in a way.
I believe the author portrays the advantages, and disadvantages, of children maturing rapidly. The advantages would be how children would grow to be brilliant strategists, responsible capable beings who may as well be quite ahead of adults. But the disadvantages would be having children being in constant pressure, torment, and isolation. To what extreme will society push children? How early will children be forced into adulthood by media and parental pressure? For how long will this environment that pressures children to grow up so rapidly exist? The book inspired me to think further on this matter — it made me think of my future children and the society they may be born into, and it made me realize that growing up so quickly prevented me from learning important life lessons.
